our pastor:
Pastor Ronnie D. Morton of Creedmoor, North Carolina, is the 11th child of fourteen children born to the late Phil Morton, Sr. and Minister Quetta Morton.

Pastor Morton attended Granville County Public Schools. In 1968, he was one of the first African Americans to graduate from South Granville High School of Creedmoor, NC.

He was raised in a Christian home, but strayed away from his upbringing, and later moved to the Washington, DC area.
In 1977, he met his wife, Miss Gwendolyn Simms of Charles County, Maryland, and was later married. They are the proud parents of two sons, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

In 1987, Pastor Morton repented of his sins and gave his life to Jesus. He was baptized at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Silver Spring, Maryland, under the leadership of Rev. Chester Burke. He was ordained a Deacon and later became the board’s chairman.

In 1993, he was called into the Gospel Ministry and began his studies at Maple Springs Baptist Bible College and Seminary in Washington, DC. In 1996, Pastor Mortan was ordained a minister and completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies graduating in the year 2000. In 1998, he was called to pastor Silver Hill Baptist Church where he served for three years. In 2005, he was called to pastor Beulah Baptist Church in Markham, VA. In 2007, God called him to plant a church in his home state of North Carolina. Obeying the call, Pastor Morton became the Founder and Pastor of Greater Joy Baptist Church in Oxford, NC, where he ministers, teaches, and preaches the Word of God.
Having a heart for people, Pastor Morton is active in building a “Faith-Based Community,” serving as a liaison while bridging the gap between the community and the Board of Education. He also created a summer program to keep children off the streets and aids in helping the unemployed find jobs.
In addition to being involved in the community and running a business, Pastor Morton also serves on the Judicial Council for Granville County Schools, and is currently the chairman of a volunteer mentoring team program working with the youth.
Pastor Morton’s mission and focus is to bring lost souls to Jesus Christ.
